Resources for Graduate Students
The Department of Art History offers courses on a range of visual traditions from ancient to contemporary in Africa, the Americas, East Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Fourteen full-time faculty members support these offerings together with adjunct professors in the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art. The Museum’s collections and those of the Lilly Library, the university’s rare book, manuscript and special collections branch, enhance the graduate experience, providing students with unique classroom and research opportunities. A dedicated Fine Arts Library with upwards of 130,000 volumes and over 3,000 periodical subscriptions supports the full range of faculty and student research in addition to the holdings in the University’s main library. Interaction with faculty and students in allied departments and related programs further enrich the intellectual life of the Department.
