Gengwei Guo (he/him) is a Ph.D. student in art history at Indiana University Bloomington. His research focuses on Qing-dynasty bird-and-flower painting, artistic exchanges between the Qing empire and the maritime world, and the transpacific circulation of botanical knowledge. He is also interested in the sensory dimensions of Chinese painting. Gengwei holds an M.A. in art history from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, as well as a B.A. and an M.F.A. in Chinese painting from Nanjing University of the Arts.
