Dr. Kate Clarke Lemay, Art History and American Studies alumna (Ph.D. '11), has been awarded the Secretary's Research Prize for excellence in recent research by the Smithsonian Institution. Dr. Lemay, Acting Senior Historian at the National Portrait Gallery, authored the exhibition catalogue, Votes for Women! A Portrait of Persistence, for a 2019 exhibition of the same name at the National Portrait Gallery, which she also curated.
