Our honors program gives qualifying undergraduates an opportunity to pursue independent research in close consultation with a faculty advisor. Honors students develop their research and writing skills, explore issues and debates in the discipline, and experience the challenges and pleasures of advanced research. Our department encourages honors students to work closely with objects in one of IU’s many collections.
To be eligible for the Honors program students need a minimum GPA of 3.3 in the College and 3.5 in the Department. To receive Honors, students must complete ARTH-A 400 Senior Seminar (variable topics) in the Fall semester and ARTH-A 499 Senior Honors Thesis in the Spring semester.
Earning an honors designation is an impressive addition to your resume. The experience it provides is also an excellent way to explore your potential interest in graduate or professional school.
