We work closely with our graduate students to provide advice and information about career development. Graduates of our department typically go on to careers directly related to art history, becoming leaders in their professions and communities both nationally and internationally. They have become teachers and curators, archivists, artists, appraisers, writers, researchers, and museum administrators.
In the United States, faculty positions typically are advertised on the websites of the College Art Association, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Higher Ed Jobs. For curatorial and other museum positions, the American Alliance of Museums is the major employment clearinghouse. The Art Libraries Society of North America maintains a listserv to which open positions are posted.
ArtHist.net is a useful resource for discipline-specific, professional news from all fields of art history — including job postings.
