The Department of Art History is excited to welcome two new faculty members in East Asian art.
Dr. Mycah Brazelton-Braxton, a specialist in Japanese modernism, will join the department in Fall of 2022. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Getty Research Institute and completed her dissertation, entitled, “Investigating Reality: the Japanese Avant-Garde’s Search for Realism, 1929-1941,” at Harvard University in 2021.
Dr. Weitian Yan, a specialist in Chinese art of the late Tang to Qing Dynasties, will join the department in Fall of 2023 after a post-doctoral fellowship year at Syracuse University. He completed his dissertation, entitled, “Envisioning Antiquity: Yi Bingshou and the Politics of Memory in the Qing Dynasty,” at University of Kansas in May 2022.
