I chose to pursue the Art History M.A. program at Indiana University for several reasons. Firstly, I was drawn to its distinguished faculty, vibrant academic community, and my existing familiarity with the institution. Having completed my bachelor's degree in art history at Indiana University, I knew firsthand that IU provides an outstanding environment for studying art history, boasting access to top-notch resources such as the Eskenazi Museum of Art and other extensive departmental archival collections- shout out to the Elizabeth Sage Historical Costume Collection! One aspect of this program that particularly appealed to me is its interdisciplinary approach, which allows students to explore art from various perspectives and methodologies, thereby enhancing their understanding of art within cultural and historical contexts. For me, my research interests tend to revolve around fashion history and the intriguing narratives embeded in clothing. Whether examining a naval uniform from the War of 1812 or a worn pair of Levi's jeans from the 1970s, I'm fascinated by the individuality and artistic expression imbued in our garments and accessories. By continuing my eduaction at IU, I eargerly anticipate contributing scholarly insights to this up-and-coming field and enriching discussions surrounding the dynamic and innovative history of fashion.
