This fall (2024) I will be entering my fourth year as an Informatics Ph.D. in the Virtual Heritage track, as well as officially beginning the dual Art History Ph.D. program, specializing in the Ancient Greek and Roman area. I applied to the Art History Ph.D. program with the aim of pursuing a dual degree that would complement and enhance my current course of study in Virtual Heritage Informatics. My professional experience lies in the fields of architectural history and historic preservation, which in turn influences my research interests. My research centers around questions of cultural hybridity and how these aspects are expressed in the built environment, particularly in Roman North Africa and the Levant. My objective in combining the fields of Virtual Heritage Informatics and Art History is to utilize 3D documentation methodologies to record, analyze, and virtually reconstruct cultural heritage sites and monuments, with an emphasis on contributing to preservation and conservation efforts. Additionally, I am interested in exploring how digital technologies can be applied toward the development of educational and interpretive programs for both archaeological sites and museum settings.
