Alexandra Nickolaou is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Art History at Indiana University Bloomington. Her research explores how contemporary African art complicates the relationship of the Euro-American art historical canon with related interests in museums and materiality within a global perspective.
Alexandra received an M.A. from the University of Chicago. She also holds degrees from Central Michigan University and Oakland University in European Studies and Art History. She has held positions in curatorial departments at several museums, including the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Smart Museum of Art.
She enjoys running marathons and walking her German Shepherd, Bowie, around Bloomington in her spare time.
